For nearly 50 years, OHI has been walking alongside adults with intellectual disabilities, autism, and mental health challenges in Maine—helping them build skills, find their voice, and claim their place in the community they call home. None of that work happens without the generosity of people like you.
Every dollar you give goes directly to the people we support—funding the experiences, resources, and opportunities that government funding simply doesn't cover. From a first-ever concert to a Ferris wheel ride, from furnishing a new apartment to attending a Special Olympics competition, your gift opens doors that would otherwise stay closed.

Stories of Impact
Amanda came to the Brewer Area Food Pantry after a serious illness left her on disability and unable to afford fresh fruits and vegetables. Access to nutritious food—and the warmth of the volunteers who greeted her every visit—changed everything. She lost more than 120 pounds, reversed her diabetes, and no longer needs most of her medication. "The produce here is what makes the difference," she says. "The fresh stuff is so pricey at the store."
Her story is one of hundreds. Every week, nearly 900 households in Brewer and Eddington depend on the Brewer Area Food Pantry. Every month, more than 600+ adults across six Maine counties are supported by OHI's team to live, work, and belong.

OHI is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization licensed by the Maine Department of Health and Human Services and registered in Maine as a charitable organization. We receive funding from DHHS, HUD, private insurers, and the generous support of individual donors, foundations, and corporate partners.
