Mental Health Support Specialist (MHSS) July 2026
The Mental Health Support Specialist (MHSS) course is a 40-hour, participation-based training required for those providing residential and daily living support services to individuals with mental illness in Maine. It covers topics such as understanding mental health and mental illness, trauma-informed care, substance use disorders, recovery and community inclusion, ethical standards, health and wellness, and Maine’s mental health system. Completion of this course is a prerequisite for MHRT 1 certification.
July MHSS Dates: July 20, 21, 22, 28 & 29, 2026 from 9:00am to 4:00pm
The July MHSS training will be a virtual training. Learners must have a device with a working camera in order to participate. Learners must be able to attend all 5 days of the training in order to pass. Please provide a working email address with your registration so that the virtual training link can be provided ahead of time.
