DESCRIPTION:Positive Approaches to Crisis Training (PACT) is a 12‑hour program that meets state training requirements for HCBS and PNMI staff supporting individuals who may experience challenging behaviors in residential settings. \nLearners will receive a PACT certificate upon successful completion of training and certification must be renewed on an annual basis. \nPACT is grounded in positive\, person‑centered approaches that promote safety\, dignity\, and meaningful support. The training emphasizes communication\, relationship‑building\, access to meaningful activities\, understanding individual stress and overwhelm cycles\, and empowering people to develop their own problem‑solving skills. \nThe Physical Skills Assessment is the final component of the training. Staff are taught approved physical techniques that emphasize safety\, dignity\, and respect\, and are to be used only in situations where there is an immediate risk to the individual or others. \nThe PACT– curriculum emphasizes the use of the positive approaches to providing support as the most effective approach in assisting people to learn to manage their symptoms to decrease their challenging behavior. By focusing on communication\, boundaries\, relationships\, attitude\, stress and problem solving\, supporters will learn ways of offering support that can decrease some of the “lose-lose” situations that could lead to physical harm and injury. \nPhysical Skills: The two-day course ends with assessing staff ability to perform. One-third of the PACT curriculum addresses the supporters’ response to crisis\, including physical interaction techniques that focus on maximum safety\, dignity and respect for all. The curriculum incorporates the updated state of Maine Behavior Regulations governing the use of restraints and behavioral techniques as well as all applicable laws surrounding the rights of people with disabilities.

DESCRIPTION:The Certified Residential Medication Administration (CRMA) course is a 40-hour training designed for unlicensed workers who wish to work in a variety of assisted living settings. \nSuccessful completion of this course satisfies Departmental training requirements for workers who wish to pass medications in certain assisted housing programs. \nCRMA is taught by a licensed RN. \nClass Dates for July\, 2026: July 23\, 24\, 27\, 28 & 29 9:00am to 5:00pm \nYou must attend all five days to complete this course. \nDays 1-4 are 100% IN PERSON There is an expectation of the student to practice vital signs (Temperature\, Blood Pressure\, Pulse\, Respirations) on their own time. OHI does not provide the materials to practice these skills. Day 5 – IN PERSON – The student will be required to travel to 203 Maine Ave in Bangor Maine to perform a faux med pass and a set of vital signs with the RN Instructor. \nAn RN (through your employer) is required to observe them completing their 3 in-person med passes to obtain a 40-hour CRMA certificate.  Each student is responsible for checking with their employer to ensure this is done. \nPlease note – State guidelines do not permit late students to be allowed into the classroom.  Please plan to arrive on time.  Each day begins promptly at 9:00am.

DESCRIPTION:The Certified Residential Medication Administration (CRMA) course is a 40-hour training designed for unlicensed workers who wish to work in a variety of assisted living settings. \nSuccessful completion of this course satisfies Departmental training requirements for workers who wish to pass medications in certain assisted housing programs. \nCRMA is taught by a licensed RN. \nClass Dates for August\, 2026: August 27\, 28\, 31\, Sept 1 & 2 – 9:00am to 5:00pm \nYou must attend all five days to complete this course. \nDays 1-4 are 100% IN PERSON There is an expectation of the student to practice vital signs (Temperature\, Blood Pressure\, Pulse\, Respirations) on their own time. OHI does not provide the materials to practice these skills. Day 5 – IN PERSON – The student will be required to travel to 203 Maine Ave in Bangor Maine to perform a faux med pass and a set of vital signs with the RN Instructor. \nAn RN (through your employer) is required to observe them completing their 3 in-person med passes to obtain a 40-hour CRMA certificate.  Each student is responsible for checking with their employer to ensure this is done. \nPlease note – State guidelines do not permit late students to be allowed into the classroom.  Please plan to arrive on time.  Each day begins promptly at 9:00am.

DESCRIPTION:Positive Approaches to Crisis Training (PACT) is a 12‑hour program that meets state training requirements for HCBS and PNMI staff supporting individuals who may experience challenging behaviors in residential settings. \nLearners will receive a PACT certificate upon successful completion of training and certification must be renewed on an annual basis. \nPACT is grounded in positive\, person‑centered approaches that promote safety\, dignity\, and meaningful support. The training emphasizes communication\, relationship‑building\, access to meaningful activities\, understanding individual stress and overwhelm cycles\, and empowering people to develop their own problem‑solving skills. \nThe Physical Skills Assessment is the final component of the training. Staff are taught approved physical techniques that emphasize safety\, dignity\, and respect\, and are to be used only in situations where there is an immediate risk to the individual or others. \nThe PACT– curriculum emphasizes the use of the positive approaches to providing support as the most effective approach in assisting people to learn to manage their symptoms to decrease their challenging behavior. By focusing on communication\, boundaries\, relationships\, attitude\, stress and problem solving\, supporters will learn ways of offering support that can decrease some of the “lose-lose” situations that could lead to physical harm and injury. \nPhysical Skills: The two-day course ends with assessing staff ability to perform. One-third of the PACT curriculum addresses the supporters’ response to crisis\, including physical interaction techniques that focus on maximum safety\, dignity and respect for all. The curriculum incorporates the updated state of Maine Behavior Regulations governing the use of restraints and behavioral techniques as well as all applicable laws surrounding the rights of people with disabilities.
